Stephie’s Interpretation – Hammer Through Daisies

Hammer Through Daisies takes its name from the poem ‘And Death Shall Have No Dominion’ by Dylan Thomas who explores notions of love overcoming times of adversity. Inspired by the poem, Stephie picked flowers to place in the freezer overnight. The next morning she opened the freezer and began drawing and photographing the flowers, capturing ice crystals and trapped petals. Stephie shattered the flowers with a hammer, trying to destroy the ice sculptures. They were however, were still beautiful, as was Thomas’ love.

By combining Stephie’s photography and hand drawings together in Photoshop she creates innovative artwork which is digitally printed onto silk before being sent to our Welsh factory to be made into luxurious garments.

To help you remember Stephie’s inspiration, the name of the poem and author is sewn into each garment.
