Stephie’s Interpretation – Hammer Through Daisies

Hammer Through Daisies takes its name from the poem ‘And Death Shall Have No Dominion’ by Dylan Thomas who explores notions of love overcoming times of adversity. Inspired by the poem, Stephie picked flowers to place in the freezer overnight. The next morning she opened the freezer and began drawing and photographing the flowers, capturing ice crystals and trapped petals. Stephie shattered the flowers with a hammer, trying to destroy the ice sculptures. They were however, were still beautiful, as was Thomas’ love.

Stephie combines her photographs and oil paintings together in photoshop to create a design which is digitally printed onto silk and made into products in the UK.
