When I was little we went camping a lot. I slept right through the tent blowing off in a storm and a horse coming in in the New Forest. This girl loves to sleep.

But when I’m anxious, I struggle to sleep. (Cue fist clench sleep and my recurring teeth dream).

We all know what we should do, limit alcohol, eat early, avoid screens, but there’s a few other tricks that work for me.

1.  Calm Music

If I feel a troubled sleep coming on, I’ll turn on my ‘Calm’ App before bed. Relaxing, non intrusive noise, is all it is. It stops off after an hour of in-activity and usually I’m asleep before the end. There’s lots of different apps out there, Calm works for me.

Bamboo fabric comes from the perennial grass species, the fibre is made by breaking down the cellulose structure and hardening the the bamboo to create fibre threads. This is spun into yarn. The process is streamlined and uses far less water than traditional cotton.  Bamboo is also naturally antibacterial and hyperallergic. Perfect for nightwear.

2. Exercise

Pre-2020 I hated running, now I bloody love it. I have a lot of adrenaline and definitely get a better night sleep the days I exercise.

3. Loose or stretchy

Feeling your nightwear tug and pinch is awful. Stretchy nightwear helps prevent this. When designing my new bamboo nightwear range, I was looking for a breathable fabric to stay cool while sleeping, allowing you to roll around to your hearts content.

4. Reading or writing

Reading and writing helps me unwind. When my head is busy, I’ll write lists, ideas, poetry or thoughts down on the notes section of my phone.

5. No snoozing

Not letting yourself snooze can be painful. But often abusing the snooze alarm can be worse and I really try to get up on my first alarm.

6. Eye Mask

Having my trusty eye mask on hand is my comfort blanket and helps me settle into a routine.

Silk is such a magic fibre – proven to both keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Both silk pillowcases and eye masks can help reduce sleep wrinkles and skin irritation compared to synthetic fabrics.

The natural fibre is hypoallergenic, perfect for sensitive skin.
