Lord Byron Inspired

Inspired by the contrasting effects of light and dark, purity and immorality, ‘That Tender Light’ references Lord Byron’s poem, ‘She Walks in Beauty’. Stephie captured the innocence & darkness portrayed in the poetry by filling a glass bowl with water, suspending white flowers & dripping black ink into the water through the flowers. As the ink twisted elegantly around the flowers, Stephie recorded the results with drawings & photography. Flowers featuring in our Lord Byron Inspired by collection feature Hellebores, Anemones, Roses and Ranunculus.

The background of each design is a creative light trick – the Bokeh effect. These are similar to the light spots created when you squint your eyes or in the background of photographs. The result is dynamic photography which Stephie worked into a design before it was digitally printed onto silk satin. To compliment Stephie’s photography, each print features oil painted flowers. Approximately 35 photographs go into producing one of Stephie’s unique designs.
